Compers Stories
If you're thinking about taking up comping as a hobby or just wondering whether people do actually win anything, take a look at the compers testimonials below.
The following inspirational stories have been supplied by users of our sister site at www.cheap-postcards.co.ukWell my story about comping is certainly different, I never started out to become a comper or win anything but within a short time I was 'hooked' and winning such a variety of items it was amazing. Four years ago I was made redundant. I was one of the lucky ones who managed to find a new job within weeks. However a colleague of mine found something else on line - competition sites!
As you can imagine with redundancy hanging over our heads our workload dried up but we still had to look busy. Luckily Loquax came to the rescue, every day we would look busy but in reality we were hopping around the net completing competitions. As with all good sites there were links to other sites and before long our browsing became compulsive and also moved into postcard comps. Within days I managed to win my first BBQ and it wasn't long before an assortment of boxes and padded envelopes started arriving at our door full of goodies. This is one hobby that keeps growing, from the net to postcard entries and entry forms. I am still working on the slogan element and one day hope to win a car . . . meantime the sky 's the limit!

We were put up in a fantastic hotel, the Treasure Island for three nights and we also had free tickets to go and see the VH1 Divas concert.
My other half and I had been together for about four years and had spoken about getting married a few times but because I've got two teenage children I didn't want a huge do and loads of fuss. We decided to take the bull by the horns and get married while out in Vegas!
The night we arrived we went off to get our wedding licence. The cab driver told us that the latest thing was to get married in a drive thru chapel so we decided on the spur of the moments that's what we'd do.The whole wedding took about ten minutes and we did it all from the back of a taxi cab - a bit like going to a McDonalds and asking for a Big Mac and Fries!
Not only was the Vegas trip a prize to remember, I'll have even fonder memories of it as we threw caution to the wind and had a wedding that neither of us will ever forget!Sent in by S Sunderland - Suffolk
I first got into comping when I was eleven years old back in 1989 and the first competition I ever entered was a phone in to the local radio station - Moray Firth in Inverness.
The competition was to win tickets to the Hit Man Roadshow at Edinburgh Playhouse, featuring Kylie Minogue. My friends and I were absolutely crazy about Kylie and Jason at that time and I just couldn't believe how lucky I could be when I won.
My poor dad wasn't quite as impressed when he had to accompany two eleven year old girls on a coach full of screaming fans to the event!
But ever since then I've caught the comping bug, it's such a thrill to receive a lovely prize through the post and I just class it as a wee part-time job in which I don't know what the pay will be!

Even when you enter loads of competitions, there are times when luck seems to be against you.
This happened to me a few months ago - I won nothing for a whole month, but refused to give up, and the following month was absolutely mental!!!I won £300 of vouchers, an MP3 player, a moblie phone, a VIP trip to a music festival including a meal, a weekend in Paris, and about 15 other nice little things like DVDs, CDs and smellies.
I'm living proof that all your hard work pays off in the end!
