Comping is a relatively simple hobby, but can seem confusing at first.
I've listed below some of the questions many people face when first taking up comping as their hobby.If your question hasn't been answered here, feel free to contact me at the email address at the bottom of this page.
Q: Where can I find competitions to enter?
A: Everywhere! Take a look at our Links pages for competition portals or browse our Offline Competitions section for tips on finding competitions on the High Street.Q: Does anyone ever win anything?
A: Yes! Many competition prizes are going to the same people time and time again though. Why? Simply because they are compers and enter on a regular basis.Q: How much can I win?
A: There is no limit. If you enter lots of competitions you'll win lots of prizes. Take a look at our getting started page to get on that winning streak.Q: How will I know if I've won?
A: The prize will be sent to you or you'll receive a call/letter/email confirming you've won.You can also search for your name in winners lists via Google Type in your name inside quotations marks - this will narrow down the number of matches to look through.
Q: What does AIOE/WEM/WTC/NPN etc stand for?
A: These are all comping related abbreviations. Take a look at our Glossary section for these and more definitions.Q: How many competitions should I enter?
A: As many as you can. Try to set aside at least 20 minutes online everyday for comping. Enter offline competitions as and when you see them. Fill in postcards etc while you're watching TV.Q: I've been entering competitions now for 2 weeks why haven't I won anything?
A: Promoters can be a bit slow sending out prizes. Keep on entering the competitions and you should start to see results after about a month.
