Here's a handy glossary of compers terms and abbreviations.

Just like many other hobbies comping has its own set of terms and abbreviations.

This can be confusing at first and so we've provided a list of the most commonly used terms found on forums & messageboards.

  • Comping - Entering competitions as a hobby


  • Comper - Someone who enters competitions


  • AIOE - All in one envelope. You can often send multiple entries on separate cards or paper to one address in just one envelope.


  • LWE - Long Winning Envelope. Abbreviation used on forums to state how the winner was notified.


  • WTC - Winning Telephone Call. Abbreviation used on forums to state how the winner was notified.


  • WEM - Winning Email. Abbreviation used on forums to state how the winner was notified.


  • TB - Tiebreaker


  • POP - Proof of Purchase


  • NPN - No Purchase Necessary


  • T&C - Terms & Conditions


  • PC - Postcard Competitions


  • PP - Plain Paper Competitions


  • PH - Phone In Competitions


  • TXT - Text Competitions


  • WWW - Online Competitions


  • PD - Prize Draw


  • EF - Entry Form


  • CD or C/D - Closing Date
