Magazines fall into 2 separate categories - Ordinary Magazines and Competition Publications.

Firstly we'll look at ordinary magazines, for competition publications click here

Magazines cover just about every subject such as hobbies, TV listings, sports, cars, cooking, celebrity gossip and fashion. In just about every publication on the shelves you will find competitions.

If you have a magazine regularly have a look through for some competitions. You may not have noticed them before - but they're there!

As you can imagine buying all those magazines to enter competitions could get expensive!

Help is at hand though. Sites such as

all have free listings of competitions from a variety of the magazines available.

You will find a variety of competitions in magazines including phone ins, crosswords, tiebreakers, puzzles & prize draws.

Top Tip: If any of friends/work colleagues/family have a regular magazine subscription ask if you can borrow it for the competitions. Tell them to enter too - they might share the prize with you if they win!

Top Tip: Send your entries in on time! Some competitions close early so you don't want to miss out by waiting until the last minute.

Top Tip: If you have the Terms & Conditions read them carefully. Don't be tempted to enter more than once or enter on behalf of someone else. Promoters follow very strict rules especially when giving away large prizes. Don't get yourself disqualified!

Top Tip: Keep a record of your entries. Its nice to look at your records when you win and see how you entered.

Competition Publications

As well as the magazines mentioned above there are also many competition publications such as Take a Break & Puzzler magazine.

Take a Break is a weekly magazine which gives away cars, holidays & cash!

Its a great magazine for compers. Be aware thought that the competitions all have high entry rates. However for the cost of the magazine and a stamp the competitions are well worth entering!

The puzzles are very quick and easy and the magazine also has other features such as readers stories, fashion etc. Puzzler has a variety of publications with competitions to win big prizes.

My advice would be if you have lots of spare time and want to get into comping in a big way then enter some comps in these publications.

If you have little time to spare then concentrate on Online & Postcard competitions instead.
